Hi,

Has anyone done the overnight canoe safari on the upper zambezi, staying on an island overnight. My husband & I would love to do it but have been told that there are no 'facilities' at all on the island. We would love to know just how basic it is and is the canoeing difficult?
We are also planning to do the elephant back safari - anyone know if this is good?

We are going on a canoe safari but in the okavango delta, its called mokoro.We are going to oddballs camp.They are supplying us with all the equipment etc and a guide, poler.

After your comments I contacted the people who we are doing our mokoro trip with,
They expl that we go with experienced polers that grew up on the Okavango Delta And like any safari or trip into the wild there are dangers.But that is why you go with reputable companys.And is that not part of the glory of going to these places.?

Thank you very much for the information. I must say that I am concerned about the hippos. There was a programme on television last night (in England) called 'The Dark Side of Hippos' which was showing the attacks on canoes in the zambezi!! We are giving the tour serious consideration now!!
