Which buses or trains does one take to get from Assisi to Siena? How late does the transportation run?

Yes, you should get very familiar with www.trenitalia.com so that the train system will not be a surprise when you get there. The Italian rail system is very easy to use, but you should be familiar with the different types of trains, pricing, promotions, and other odds and ends before you go.
Please note that the train station in Assisi is not in Assisi itself but in a nearby town (about 2 kilometers away) - note that you can still use "Assisi" in trenitalia.com. In any case, you'll need to take a bus to the upper city (which, I forget where, but surely leaves from right on front of the train station). Bill
