Lucca Travel Forum

Sorry if this has been flogged to death already but: Normally rent a car when in south of France but am travelling to Lucca by train in Sept. & by what I can gather, public transport to Pisa, Florence, Cinque Terre etc is so comprehensive that car may not be req'd. Any ideas?

check trenitalia.com for trains. we have taken a bus from florence to siena. we are going to tuscany next month so i have done homework . one day we will take a train from montecatini to pisa in the am. then a train to lucca in the pm. then another back to montecatini later. doesnt seem to need a car

You won't need a car to travel to florence, cinque terre & Pisa from Lucca. We stayed in Lucca for a week last summer, the train station is right outside the city wall and will take you to any of the places you mentioned. If you would prefer to take a bus, you can get a bus inside the city walls to these other location, but I am not sure if you will need to change buses.
