| Liechtenstein | Triesenberg accommodation Posted: Thu March 23, 2006 11:57 AM UTC
Hello all! My husband and I are spending 3 days in Lichtenstein at the end of July and are hoping to stay in Triesenberg. Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation? Do the buses go regularly so we can explore a bit of the country? Finally, is Triesenberg a good base for mixing relaxation with mountain walks? Thanks in advance.

Hi !
many years ago I was working at a hotel in Triesenberg, in fact a great hotel with excellent rooms and convention facilities. That hotel was at the end of the street and it certainly had great hiking-possibilities there, BUT it is a bad base, when you intend to explore Liechtenstein from there. Public buses were going only a few times during the day and mostly they are ment for people from Vaduz to go to Triesenberg, and NOT for the few people from Triesenberg to go down to the valley, so you may go to Vaduz at 11.00a.m. and have to return by the last bus at 03.00p.m. maybe...

Thanks for that, Globetrott. Perhaps better to stay at either Vaduz or Triesen and head up to Triesenberg as a day trip..?

Hi,
the Hotel Globetrott is refering to is no longer existing. There are a few smaller Hotels in Triesenberg, eg. the Hotel Kulm: http://www.hotelkulm.li/ The page is momentarily only in german. Staying in Vaduz is an advantage, because you are more flexible. Either you use your own car, Liechtenstein has also an excellent bus system, which connects all villages. For budget travel you find also a hostel near Vaduz: http://www.youthhostel.ch/schaan/ Check my Vt page under Liechtenstein, Vadus, or the nearby places like Maienfeld. Or contact me with specific questions via email. Enjoy your trip to the principality cheers Peter

Hi Loisl,
Thanks for your help. We have got ourselves booked into Hotel Kulm, and have checked out the bus timetables for getting around. We are really looking forward to our visit! Cheers, Yowsa.
