| Kanchanaburi | Accommodation in Kanchanaburi town Posted: Thu March 23, 2006 07:18 AM UTC
Has anybody stayed in a nice hotel around the 1,000 baht range in Kanchanaburi town (not up river)? I usually stay at the River Kwai Hotel, but that is now very sad, smelly, old and the beds are so hard I might as well sleep on the floor. I know there are a few hotels neat the River Kwai Hotel, but I have never been in any of them.

Hi,
I can recommend the Luxury Hotel, 284/1 Saengchuto Road. About 500 metres from the railway station and set slightly back from the main street leading to the town centre. It's been recently entirely renovated, last year when we stayed there I paid 700 bahts for a double room with AC and bathroom with shower. (I can't recall whether breakfast was included) We found it to been spotlessly clean and the staff were very kind. Excellent value! PS: Telephone 034-511-168. Cheers, Ian.
