Hello,
Surelly it depends on what you are looking for. As you probably know, Lagos is by the seaside in the southern part of portugal, and by that reason, September is the best time for beach. although it can be a bit crowd around the city, there are many beaches to "hide-away". October gets colder, that implies less people and November even less. So, if you are not looking to go to the beach, november is the less crowed. hope it helps. diasman

August or September are better: It's warm - September is usually the month with less wind.
October is 50/50. It can be either sunny and warm, or already rainig. It also becomes dead. In November, it usually rains and it cools down (for Portuguese standards - 15 degrees)

Is there any young people in Lagos during the October and November, or me and my friends will be there alone if we decide to go in Nov?

As far as I know, young backpackers go there more in August. In September, I think there are many tourists as well, but I have never been there in September. I can tell you that whe weather is usually settled in September, with less wind. Because it is the end of the summer, the sun is not so agressive and the sea is warmer (warmed up throughout the Summer).
October, has still tourists, depending on the year (tourism has had ups and downs in the Algarve), but not many young people, more families, sailors, yatchers, golf players, some alternative life stylers who live there. November is usually dead. It rains, unless there is a drought winter as in 2004. Almost all tourist restaurants and hotels close for holiday this month. Good time to go north, to Lisbon and Porto. I mentioned in the last post 15 degress, meaning above zero (the dash doesn't mean negative). Suggestion: visit Sagres and the beaches around. Watch the sunset on a beach on the west coast, while hearing the sound of the waves (more in the summer).
