| Delphi | Athens to Delphi Posted: Mon March 20, 2006 02:21 PM UTC
We would like to take a daytrip out to Delphi.
1) How much time can we expect to spend there? 2) Is it open everyday? Till what time? 3) Are there any towns to see along the way or around that area that we can commute to by bus before we go to Delphi if we intend to spend the night out of Athens? 4) Do buses from Athens go often to Delphi? Is there a last bus that we should look out for when we return? Thank you. |

1) I think an absolute min. is three hours, that is what I call "tour-time", i.e. you see the site but you do not take (or have) the time to look.
2) Look here: http://www.culture.gr/2/21/211/21110a/e211ja01.html 3) Plenty: but I think Delphi will take up all of your time, even if you spend one night out of Athens. 4) Bus schedules and fairs here: http://www.travelpage.gr/transportation/trans_buses8.php. Trip takes 3 hours and not 2 hours as someone answered in reply to another post of yours.

not sure about the bus system... (am looking for info on that myself as well), but as far as other things to look at around delphi, check out http://www.greecetravel.com/delphi/arachova.htm
. also, the Thelos archeological museum in Delphi is open every day from 8:30 am to 4 or 4:30pm, and I bet it would be worth going through when you head to the site of the Oracle, etc . :)
