Does anyone have any information on El Golfo? If so, please email me at wud1@aol.com or go to my site http://wud1.com and leave a message; either way. I mostly want to know if there are any hotels/motels to stay at, and what the best places to go for food and fun are.

I appreciate any input you may have.

El Golfo is in Mexico. You have to remember that it's not a quick and easy drive to cross the border. If you plan on going down there multiple days, just stay there. It'll take you about 2 hours one-way with crossing time.
I'm sorry to say that Yuma is one of the most boring cities in the country. It's mostly retirees, but many clear out by April and leave the city pretty dead.
There are plenty of chain motels near the interstate that are all generally pretty cheap: $40-100.
When I'm there, I always eat at a place called Brownie's for breakfast. It's very homey and pretty cheap. There's also a very cool coffee shop called Java Oasis that serves as a sort of a social center. Both are on 4th Avenue near the center of town.
There's also a Johnny Carino's here on 16th Street, which is a great chain Italian place.
They recently opened an enormous mall here, so that may be what people here do for fun.

I beg to differ with the person saying Yuma is dead....According to a Pepperdine University (recent) study...out of 397 cities...including LA, Chicago, New York, etc...Yuma was NUMBER ONE as far as booming, growing cities.

There is a tremendous amount to do here in Yuma...one just has to know where to look. We are in the Sonoran desert....we have the most diverse plant life in the country...there are water sports, hiking, camping, lakes, river tours, fishing, the nearby sand dunes, etc....you just have to know what is going on!
