I am talking by email to several neat sounding ladies (?) from there, I am interested in soul mate and wife. Is it a good idea to just travel there, get a room and meet the ladies? How do I find an interpreter? Is it safe? All advice appreciated.

What does your motto say about the dollar and honesty :)?
I am not from Lugansk, but that applies to everywhere, I suppose.
Interpreter - I would expect the candidates to be able to communicate somehow, otherwise they would have uncertain prospects in future.
To get a room - try holiday-rentals.com, I think they have hotels and apartments everywhere. Or get into Ukrainian Forum and ask people to help.
Is it a good idea - well, it depends on many things, mostly on whether your ideas and that prospestive mate coincide.
Safety - I have been to Lugansk, it is not less safe than anywhere else in former USSR. I would contact a travel agency, though, and ask their advice; they may book you a room, too, and arrange the entry visa.

I travel to Luhansk several times a year, I would suggest getting in touch with HunterV on this site. as for rentals He can also set you up with a very nice Apt. This is the most reasonable way to stay there. Vic. is a premire interpreter, and guide. as for Visa?? you dont need one!! This time of year you could fly with a very good chance of the flight to not be canceled. It is much more fun and you get more out of your trip if you take the train! I always take the train now. You could ask HunterV to meet you in Kieve. Also Yuri is a wonderful Taxi driver and guide in Kieve, HunterV has communication with him.

I have been to Lugansk several times and in fact have met a lovely lady that I have corresponded with for quite some time before we met face to face and made several trips since. Apartments aren't a problem. I have used kievrent.net, they have apartments all over Ukraine and are reasonable. Flights aren't usually a problem unless there is bad weather. My advice arrange as much as you can in advance and you won't have any problems. Be sensible and you will be fine. I would suggest that it may be better to know a few people before hand as it makes you feel more at home when you get there rather than just goind and not knowing anyone. You will find that less people speak English in Lugansk that Kiev, but they are wonderful people. Kievrent.net can also conncet you with an interpreter as well. I have used a service called FT contact for an interpreter and that is also how I met my lady there as well. I would be more than happy to provide there information to you also and can say that their service is great. Happy traveling.
