Going to this area late may and was wondering will the sea be freezing? Are there any live music venues in this area?

Hi there,

The sea is allways around the same temperature here all year. We are talking about the ocean... I'd expect to find it around 15 to 20ºC or so.
It's rather chilly compared to the south mediterranean seashores.

As to venues, you will find them, but not as you would on a major city like Porto or Coimbra. What kind of music will you be looking for? Traditional portuguese music?

Cheers,
Pedro

For folk and popular music you better try out the city council's website.

Most of the groups don't have a web page.

For future reference, has you might not use this info now, these are:
http://www.cm-esposende.pt/site/

The events/venues page is:
http://www.cm-esposende.pt/site/eventos/?
There are concerts on the 2, 3, 9 and 10 of June at the Square called "Largo dos Bombeiros".

It's not translated but I recon that anyone going to the city tourism can find help on the upcoming events. Usually during the summer they happen every weekend. Now they might be more rare, or not depending on what saints are celebrated on the area or other festivities...

Take care,
Pedro
