I want to visit some small villages near Heidelberg.
Are there any reliable private driver services for hire. |

http://www.hls-online.com
http://www.tls-heidelberg.de You'll find more if you google for "Heidelberg Limousine Service" or "Heidelberg Chauffeur Service". Never used such a service. Not even a taxi in Heidelberg. Public transport is quite good. Esp. to the villages/towns at the Bergstrasse (OEG trains) or the Neckar Valley (S-Bahn lines S1 and S2). Detailled topographic VRN map http://www.vrn.de/frames/karten_plaene/content_lin or use the DB timetable which knows all about pulbic transport (trains, trams, buses) in Germany.

If you have the names of the villages we might be able to offer some alternatives to a private driver. When (month) will you be in Heidelberg? How are you arriving in Heidelberg and will you be staying in the area? The train station has an excellecnt information desk to help you if you're arriving by train. English is widely spoken there and the people are helpful as they're accustomed to tourists. P.S. Columbia where?

We will be in Heidelberg on April 3rd and 4th. The villages are Asbach and Hoffenheim. I know there is a train connection to Hoffenheim. I know the bus
will get me to Asbach, but the time schedule is lengthy and will take all morning and I don't expect to be in Asbach but a hour or so. I don't want to waste a whole morning on it. That's why I was asking about a private driver. I'm in South Carolina, USA.

A "private driver" is not very usual in Germany. I guess you can ask a taxi driver, but the costs will be exorbitant. Otherwise, you might consider renting a car for a day.

From a certain distance on you can negotiate the prices with taxis freely. You can do this already in advance with the taxi company. Will be mostlikely less expensive than the links I gave in my first answer. Here you'll get an English speaking driver, an upscale car and whatever you like - but this comes for a price.
What does not exists are any sort of private taxis, i.e. where people drive you for cheap with their own cars, like they exist in some countries. In the moment you drive in Germany someone around for money, you need the qualification, drivers class (transport of persons), health check etc. etc. to do so.
