hi we will be visiting Galway County during april, staying 5 days in all. we will be staying in oughterard.
our itinerary is as follows 1st day: arrive at oughterard, we'll do some walking around then go to a pub 2nd day: Aughnanure Castle and hire a boat (can anyone tell me if it is possible to hire a boat and go on inchgoill island without a boatman?) 3rd day: boat trip from Cong 4th day: Connemara 5th day: Galway City could you please tell me if there are other interesting places to visit, which can be visited in a day? any idea where one can go for lucnh, a restaurant offering both seafood and meat dishes in the connemara area? thank you |

your boat trip from cong, if it is trhe lake one, won't take all day.
plus galway really needs a full day. Cong is good for restaurants, although a little pricey. If you into fine dining, then you can't beat ashford castle in Cong.

A nice restaurant with great food in Connemara is DERRYCLARE in Clifden (in a yellow building at the main square).
Another nice day trip from Galway is Inishmore (Aran Islands) definitely. Take the morning ferry, rent a bicycle and explore the island before taking the last ferry back. Enjoy! Sabs

hi I wouldnt advice you to take a boat on ur own-the lake can be dangerous if you dont know it-speaking from experience. even people that know lough corrib have had to be rescued after they hit rocks etc. other than that you will have a great time

If you can hire a car try go down to the south of Galway, on the Clare border, this is known as the Burren and has landscape that you will see nowhere else.
