| Kunming | Kunming tour price Posted: Wed March 15, 2006 05:42 AM UTC
Hi, everyone who used to travelled in Kunming before.
I need your help in a little thing, please help to suggest. I contact 1 tour agency, and the price is 100 USD per person. The price for 2 whole day tour and another half day as follow; 1st day ==> go to Stone forest, Jiuxiang cave 2nd day ==> go to West hill, Yunnan ethic village and Golden temple 3rd half day ==> go to Bamboo temple This price does not include the accomodation and food, just for private van + tour guide. Can anyone please tell me does the price is reasonable?? I have never been in China before, so i have no idea about the price and how to trvel around there. Please help !! Thank you in advance Sasina |

Yes i agree with what has already been said! I have been to Kunming several times and the city is very easy to get around. The taxis are cheap and efficient as are the local buses and trains. We took a train out to the Stone Forest as they have a train station nearby. It didnt cost very much, no more than 50RMB Im sure. When we arrived at the station, there were some tourist guides who took us to the Stone forest. We just needed to pay them for the ride which was about 5-10RMB per person. You ahve to act like you know what youre talking about or they will try to rip you off! They then left us to do what we wanted which is far better in China than having a guide because half the time, the guide cannot speak english and so youre following someone around all day not understanding anything!
For the other places, again, use public transport, investigate thngs for yourslef, by a guide book before you come..it will make your holiday far more fun and cheaper!!! You will love Kunming and that area..its one of the prettiest in China.

I went to Shilin for half-day tour ( half-day because by the time we reached there, it was after 12 noon )
and to Jiuxiang on the second day in Nov, 2004. They charged us 250RMB which included a tour guide ( who tagged along with you ),transportation, entrance fees, food and cable car ride (jiuxiang)and many stops before we reached our destination. To shilin alone, it should be around 100 - 120 yuan per pax. 100 USD is consider expensive.
