| Lucca | October visit Posted: Mon March 13, 2006 07:52 PM UTC
Hi I have just booked a short visit to Lucca for October and would be grateful for some tips. Can any one help with weather advice ie how cold and how rainy it may be(hopefully it will be neither. Also our stay includes a Sunday does this make a difference to the shop and restaurant opening times. We are staying at a b&b called La Romera is there anyone out there who has visited and could tell us what its like it looks good on the website! Thanks

Sorry can't help with your specific questions as I have only spent one afternoon in Lucca but just to say if you do one thing, hire bikes ( cheap and easy to arrange when you get there ) and cycle along the walls of the old city. It's my best memory of our Italian holiday.

After spending the last three summer holidays in the Lucca area, I can tell you that absolutely no shops were open on a Sunday in the summer. Sunday is "family day" so I imagine the same is true for Autumn/winter. As for rain, etc. bring a brolly and raincoat. Temperatures can be very mild up until November.
Hope this helps. ccmc
