Getting around Kodiak

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I maybe traveling to Kodiak this summer on a very limited budget. What is the best way to get around? Is there taxi service from the airport to Kodiak? Is renting a bike a good idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hands down the best ways to get around the island are by car, boat or plane. Car rentals are available in Kodiak but are a bit spendy. Maybe you can hitch a bit but traffic is limited when you get out of town. Someone else may know about some bus or taxi services outside of the town of Kodiak but I am not aware of any. We have heard from some people since our last trip that there are discounted flights from the mail service as long as you fly by flexible schedule? Again maybe someone else can be of more assistance there.
