Tarragona Travel Forum

Hello,

We (Me, my wife and 2 kids) will travel to Spain in June. We love to visit cultural sites and therefore we have decided to have a stay in Tarragona for 3 days. We know that the city of Tarragona is old, cultural, beautiful, et cetara. We are planning 1 day in the city, 1 day at the beach and 1 day driving by car through the surroundings. Do you all have some tips for the surroundings?

We found out one by surfing over the internet and this is:
- Eat Calçots in Valls (we're into local cooking)

Anyone, anything?

I lived in Tarragona for several months. Checkout some of my pages for info.
If you are only planning one day driving out in the area, I would recommend heading up to the lake in the mountains, then the town of Prades.

There are several other places near Tarragona to go, but one day is not enough for all.

And yes, the Calcots in Valls are quite tasty. There are plenty of good seafood restaurants along the beach front in Cambrils that are good too. Many good restaurants in Salou, but you'll pay more elevated prices and might get only moderate quality.

Tarragona has some good restaurants too in the small streets around the Old Quarter. Near Placa de la Font and the old Church (near Rambla Vella)

Go visit one of the Cister Monasteries: Poblet, Vallbona or Santes Creus. The Monestir de Poblet is probably the most monumental, and it's quite interesting. They offer guided tours, but not sure if in english.

No I think he won't find calçotades. about two years ago I went to Montblanc and Valls on Easter Holidays, and I was already out of season.
