Re: Spending a night in Roswell - any good bars? Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 05:21 PM UTC
Sorry--I don't check the Roswell board that often. There's Bud's bar on North Main Street in Roswell. It's very much a locals hangout and all they play is country and western music. There is also Boot Scooters, on SE Main Street. It's very much the same as Bud's. Both have big dance floors.
Most everyone hangs out at the bars in the restaurants--Farley's, Chili's, Applebee's, JD's Patio and Grille (attached to the Sally Port Inn), Pepper's Grill and Bar (attached to the tall white building on Main Street--there's a bank there, but it has changed names since I've been there), and Tia Juana's. All are on Main Street. Check out the Roswell Chamber of Commerce's website for more details about Roswell and current events. www.roswellnm.org. Search under dining for exact addresses of the restaurants.
Martin's Capitol Cafe (5th Street, just off of Main St--going West) has THE BEST mexican food in Roswell. The food is excellent, the service is okay, and the prices can't be beat. Most meals are under $10. My 2nd pick would be Popo's on East McGaffey--again, most meals are under $10. Both places are frequented by locals. Enjoy the green chili.
As for Carlsbad and Alamogordo--it's been so long since I've been, I don't have any recommendations for you.
