| Bermuda | Long term lease - apartment Posted: Fri March 3, 2006 06:15 PM UTC
Me and a friend of mine will be working in Bermuda for 2-3 years, do you know a good but cheap apartment we could rent? We are ok with a studio or one bedroom unit. Thanks!

I am sure Jeff, Seabiscuit, will let you know. He may even suggest a 2 bedroom because friends will be visiting.

(Gee, thanks Dave!)
Bermuda is horiffically expensive where housing is concerned, and rental housing is QUITE rare. When I moved there, I lived at the Palmetto Bay Hotel (very expensive) for about 4 months (Company paid for it). We went looking for rentals almost every day (Me and a Bermudian). If you don't know anyone there, that's doubly damning mainly because everyone knows everyone else, so most of the rentals are gone long before anyone even knows they're available. Browsing the papers is pointless - again most are gone before press-time. (www.theroyalgazette.com). AVOID rental services like the plague. They are custom made for People in your situation (and will rip you off in a flash). The only one I know of that is worth their salt is Coldwell Banker/JW Associates. If you want, let me know and I can forward the Ladie's name that I know there. If you really are going, be aware you should start looking now, and familiarise yourself with the different neighbourhoods. Not all of them are pink sand and beaches. Some can even be deadly in the wrong areas. That said, I'd be happy to assist you with your search. Jeff-

5 months later. You really need to look at where you want to live, and, how much you're willing to spend. Again, go to www.thebermudagazette.com and look at the rentals. You'll have to work fast, as the rental market changes daily. If you know someone there, it'll make the whole thing *much* easier!
