| Simferopol | Trip from Crimea to Bulgaria, Black Sea towns? Posted: Thu March 2, 2006 10:34 PM UTC
Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to get the easiest way from the Crimea to Varna, Burgas or any other Black Sea town. (Or in any other nice place in Burgaria, for that matter). I wish to go this way in June, possibly. A direct flight would be great, but what about train or ship? Any help is appreciated. thanks Derzu, Norway |

From June 12 you can travel twice a week with a passenger ship from Odessa to Varna for 119 USD one way (http://www.travel-2-ukraine.com/transportation/od

For the past two summers, there has been a boat between Yalta and Varna. Check it out this summer, or write me if you need the schedule. I think it should be known beginning May 15.

Thanks a lot, your answer put me on the right track. I shall contact the ferry company directly. I appreciate your help very much.

Ooops... I forgot to ask: you say you think a boat leaves from Yalta? From what I understand, the Odessa - Varna Line does not say anything about a stop in Yalta? Can you please try to check this for me? I don't know how far it would be, or even how to get from say, Simfernopol (where I plan to visit a friend) and to Odessa. I imagine there must be a train or even a local ferry, but where and how?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Derzu, Oslo

In addition to the Odesa-Varna ferry line that works all year round, there may be a summer speedboat from Yalta to Odesa and then on to Varna. Yalta is about 1.5 hours away from Simferopol by car. Odesa is 6 hours from Simferopol by car, 10 hours by bus. From Odesa, you can take a direct flight to Varna, from Simferopol I'm afraid you'll have to switch planes.
As I said, the speedboat is convenient but questionable, and we'll have to check if it runs closer to the beginning of summer.

Sure, just remind me to check the schedule sometime around May 15. I've actually already seen one link to the 2006 speedboat schedule, but it didn't work. It should run this year as well. Take care.

Can you post or send me that timetable Varna/Yalta?
Does this boat carry cars?
