RE: Which Campground is best at Killbear? Posted: Wed May 3, 2006 03:52 AM UTC
I'd prefer to not car camp at Killbear. Rent a canoe and you camp on one of the lakes. The park will just let you know the lake and it's first come/first serve to the campsite but it will not be overbooked. You would have to bring all your stuff in though, no showers, a boombox for a toilet, should have a water filter. Favourite sites seem to be OSA lake (not near Silver Peak though). You need to look at the map as you need to portage to some of them, and some portages can be quite long.
If that's not for you, the campground will help you out as I believe there's a map. One place people hike (although too far from the main campground) is to Silver Peak. There are hiking trails in the area. Around the lake is the best sites but they're the first ones to go.
