Éze Eze - How to get there and around
Posted: Wed May 28, 2003 12:19 AM UTC
Our family will arrive at Villefranche port (Nice) on Sun Jul 27 via RCL cruise . A friend of mine strongly recommends us to visit Eze. I am not sure how to get there from the port? A taxi? How much will it cost? Or can we take the train or bus? Any one has been there that can share some ideas?

Sorry, I can't help you with the details but I am sure there are buses that go to Eze. It's a beautiful little town and I would highly recommend it. You won't be sorry.

Éze Went to Eze last year

Eze is a definite "must see" while visiting the French Riviera. We went there during the off season with a tour mini van. The hill lies between Nice and Monaco, and while you can get there via taxi, this could be a bit steep. Trains are out of the question, but there are buses that travel through the coastal road all the time. Keep in mind that if you take a bus (vs. a taxi or a local tour), you may have to do some walking up the hill to get to the little village. Vehicles are not allowed past a certain point, and cars are not allowed to linger at the entrance. There is a fantastic tourist information office at the Nice airport, and I'm sure they can price the different options for you.

I don't know if buses run to Eze-village from Villefranche, but you can definitely get one from the bus station in Nice. You'll be able to get a train from Villefranche to Eze sur Mer, which will take just a few minutes, but you'll have to walk up the hill.

Great place....go for it and when you do... go clear to the top where the garden is, which once was a place where a small group of Greek warriors held off the Roman army. It's beautiful on top. If you don't go by taxi the only way is by bus...........

Hi, there.

As you can read in my question, I'm researching Eze for an article, although I have never been there.

This site--http://www.eze-riviera.com/emotions/deplacement/ang/deplace.htm--is the official tourism site for Eze, and it has information on travel there via bus, train, and taxi.

The English part of the site isn't complete, however, so I just copy and paste what I don't understand into something like http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr, which translates (most amusingly) for me.

Here's train tables: http://www.ter-sncf.com/paca/Media_region/monaco_2209.pdf. Eze is only a 10 to 20 minute car ride (sources differ) from Nice to Eze, but as someone else said, the train dumps you in Eze Bord de Mer at the very bottom, and it's >1 hour hike upward to the village (as far as I can tell).

The info for the buses is at http://www.eze-riviera.com/emotions/deplacement/bus.htm, but I can't figure it out. It seems from the tourism site and other readings, however, that the bus can drop you off at the sea level, the main village, or the tippy top.

I don't know where the port is in relation to the train and bus stations.

Good luck!

Cindy

Where can I find transport to Ezde and a private tour of Monte Carlo once I disembark my cruise in Monaco? Has anyone stayed at the Chateau Eza?

We were on RCL last year and our stop was the same as yours ( I think you on the same route) We went to EZE- it is a must see. We use the ship's travel coordinator. Who is in the lobby from 6pm the night before you land. He offered the best way was by taxi - up to EZE and then the bus back. I am hoping to post some of our Meditteranean cruise pics
