Zermatt Road from Brig to Tasch and Simplon Pass
Posted: Sun February 26, 2006 01:48 AM UTC
Hi Everyone - can anyone tell me what the road from Brig to Tasch is like for driving a car? Is it sealed, two way, steep, scary etc.
I am a nervous driver - would I be better to leave my car at Brig and train from there?
Also I am planning to go to Italy afterwards via the Simplon Pass - what is that road like to drive?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Both routes are good for driving, they're in excellent condition. Two directional roads but no overtaking on the biggest part of this section. Swiss drivers are very okay. In bad weather choose Simplon tunnel.

The Simplon tunnel car transfer on rail does not operate very frequent... but it is true, in bad weather the Simplon pass, despite very good road is no fun to drive. As to Zermatt, leave your car in Visp and take the train to Zermatt. The parking in Visp is much cheaper than in Täsch.
