Hi there,

I'm wondering how long does it take to travel from Vienna to Olomouc?

Is it advisable to take the train or to coach there?

Hi Francesca,

there are no direct connections between Vienna and Olomouc. It will take you between 3 and 4 hours, depending on which route you take. The shortest is this one:

Eurocity train 70 Smetana leaving from Wien Sudbahnhof at 15:33, buy a ticket to Brno, main station. You will arrive at 17:05.
Then take a Student Agency bus (a nice big bright yellow bus) leaving at 17:30 from the station Brno, Grand hotel. The station is right in front of the railway station. The change will take no more than 10 minutes. The bus will be at Olomouc in one hour i.e. 18:30.

But if you are afraid of changing train for bus take this route:

Eurocity train 104 Sobieski leaving from Wien Sudbahnhof at 09:08, buy a ticket to Prerov. The train will arrive here at 11:16. Then buy a ticket for the local train Os3710 (end station at Ceska Trebova) to Olomouc. The train is leaving from Prerov at 11:44 and will arrive at Olomouc main station at 12:09.

The best way is, get bus to Brno and bus from Brno to Olomouc, is quite cheaper than train and get the way around #3 hours
