Aqaba Free Aqaba Special Visa, where is the ASEZA Office
Posted: Wed February 22, 2006 10:23 PM UTC
Does anyone know where is this Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority(ASEZA) office is? How far is it from the city center(and which direction)?

I will get the free ASEZ visa, but I have to report-in the ASEZA office within 48 hours after I enter Jordan.

Many thanks.

It's on the road to Amman (don't know the name, sorry) and not far from the centre at all, somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes in a taxi. There aren't any street numbers in Jordan!

Ask your taxi driver to take you to the "Acleem" office, which means something like "local authority". Most of them have never heard of ASEZA. Just ask for the visa office when you are there.

This sounds new to me. Never heard anyone mention that they had to report there after entering Jordan. Is this actually true?

However, it IS true that if you want to extend the free visa, you can only do it there - nowhere else in the country.

Yes, if you ask for (and get) the free ASEZA visa anywhere except Aqaba you have to report in withing 48 hours of arrival. It is a special arrangement to encourage people to visit Aqaba. Most visitors get this visa automatically when they arrive either from Nuweiba or from Israel at the Eilat/Aqaba crossing, or by air so they don't have to prove they are going to Aqaba.

When you arrive somewhere else, then you have to decide if it is worth hurrying down to Aqaba to register within the 48 hours.

Thanks, WC. Raymond didn't say he *wasn't* entering Jordan somewhere else. I was quite sure you didn't have to report in if you entered from Israel (at Wadi Araba) or via the ferry.

No, he didn't did he, but I supposed that was the case, since otherwise he wouldn't need to bother with the office.

Hey, thank you for all...
I am planning to travel from Saudi Arabia (the northern area) to Amman. I will try to get this free visa since I am planning to go to Aqaba anyway and I can save the 10 DJ ;-)

Does anyone has a picture of this ASEZA Office? Any suggestion for a cheap place to stay in Aqaba? Many thanks.

"Saudi Arabia to Amman" that means by air? Because if you are coming by land and entering in Aqaba you don't need to report in! And sorry no, heavens, why would anybody take a photo of an office building?

Cheap hotel : try the Dweik or the Petra Hostel? They are backpacker level.
