| Zermatt | 6 days trip planning Posted: Tue February 21, 2006 02:26 PM UTC
We, a group of 4 persons, will visit Switzerland for 6 days from end of April. Thereafter, we will go to Munich. We like to see the mountain, glacier and the greenery in Switzerland and plan to go to Geneva, Zermatt(for Gornergrat), Riederalp (for Aletsch Glacier) and St. Gallen (for Appenell). What is the usual weather during those days? Will it be sunny? If not, should I drop Zermatt and Riederalp and visit other places? Any other suggestion or comment can you VT members are very welcomed.
Thanks for your help in advance! |

I am not sure about the weather. But I just wanted to tell you that you will have an experience in Switzerland that you will never forget. I spent ten days in Switzerland two years ago and had one of my most memorable vacations. Zurich and Geneva are both beautiful cities. I also visited Bern, Basel, Murren, and went to the top of Schilthorn. All left me without words to describe. Have a great trip. Check out the various VT pages here on Switzerland. There is a wealth of information on them.

For the Aletsch glacier I would go to Bettmeralp rather than Riederalp. However end of April is a very good time to visit lowlands and foothills of the Alps, but the mountains themselves will be still mostly in snow - but the snow will be already patchy so the ski lifts will be closed. Also this is the time many cable cars close for the technical inspection, and restaurant and hotel owners in the skiing resorts take their holidays. if you can shift your visit to late May or June it will be better.
