People that have rented a car in athens: any suggestions on who to rent from and if it's better/cheaper to get it from the airport or within the city itself? Also what are the rates for petrol these days? How much can i estimate on paying for a trip to meteora that would tke 5 hrs or so? Appreciate any advise...Thx

If you go to www.viamichelin.com and enter Athens and Meteora under Driving Directions, you will see that this website also estimates the cost of gas for the trip (21.85 euro one way). You can also click on Options to change the assumptions (by default, 6 liters per hundred kilometers, and 1 euro per liter).

This is something like almost 40 mpg and $4.65/gallon...

I often go to greece and when I need a car in athens I use this site:
https://www.economycarrentals.com/default.asp?o01tkn_x02=2&resellerID=2&lang=01
it is the cheapest I've ever found and it's quite reliable, I've used it a lot of times without any problem.
have a nice trip,
eugenio

Eugenio,

Do you really have to abuse this forum by getting a commission fee on the "help" you give people here???

From my own personal experience, I can highly recommend Axon Lease as one of the best and most reliable car rental companies in Greece.

You can book a car from them on line at their web-site: www.axonlease.com

The owners, George and Manos are highly experienced and have been in the business for more than 20 years. If your car breaks down, no matter where you are in Greece, they will send you a replacement car in most cases, the same day. If you want the car waiting for you at the airport when you arrive, and leave the car at any place in Greece when you leave, you may easily arrange this. I have been renting my car year round from Axon lease for the past 4 years and therefore I can attest to their high quality. You may find any car that you want. If you want an automatic, just ask. If you want a luxury car, you may request this also. Even though you may find cheaper rates, you may not find the same quality of service. Please remember that when travelling by car in Greece, the roads are not always the best. You may suddenly find, through no fault of you or the vehicle, stranded because of having hit a hole in the road! Not to worry with Axon Lease, because you will have full road service only a phone call away!

You may also reach them by phoning: 30-210-9210964.

Please feel free to mention my name:):) I hope you have a great trip to Meteora. By the way, petrol prices can range from 1 Euro to 86 cnts Euro. Again, depending on the size of the car, expect to pay a minimum of 40 Euros one way for petrol. Don't forget that there will be tolls to pay along the way.

N.B. Just so you know, I DONOT get any commission for my recommending this car rental place! I honestly am a satisfied customer and only suggest mentioning my name in case you may have a personal recommendation. Don't think that everyone has such devious intentions Mr. J.

Dear jan,
I really don't understand what you meant with your post.
I don't get any commission fee from anyone.
this site: https://www.economycarrentals.com/ is the one I use when I come to greece and I do it about 5 times a year. this is the one I can suggest.

Hello Eugenio,

If so, I appologize. However, you best use just the sites url. The one you used is a reseller account with this site.

When it comes to the company itself, I totally agree with you. I use it myself too :-)
