Annecy Annecy or Chambery?
Posted: Sun February 12, 2006 05:50 PM UTC
I am planning on doing a french language program for a few months this fall, and was wondering whether anyone had any advice as to where I chould do it. I'm set on the French alps, but I can't decide between Annecy and Chambery. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Chambery or Annecy....you will probably get the same number of votes for each city. Both are attractive places, Chambery is a little larger and somewhat closer to Lyon or Grenoble. Annecy might be a little more expensive, as it is close to international Geneva. Best you use a dyce.

Why do you limit your choice to Chambéry or Annecy ? Grenoble is the capital of the Alps and is a large University town. Unless you prefer smaller towns, you should consider it.

Have a look at my Grenoble page and more specifically at my Saint Martin d’Hères page (this is where the universities are located).

I am not sure that links are working in the forum. Let us try :
%L[http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6ce90/1628f/1/] Saint Martin d’Hères%L*

If that does not work, it will be easier to paste the following (same)

Defenity Annecy!

Go to Chambery for a visit, but stay in Annecy. It is a pretty and exciting town.

Dagejn, Annecy is an attractive town, with scenery and its central location being the mayor trump cards of this region. Skiing will be an absolute MUST during winter in Annecy. With the new motorway. Geneva airport is now less than an hour by regular direct bus from Geneva airport.
