| Lugano | 4 days - honeymoon in Lugano Posted: Sun February 12, 2006 05:34 AM UTC
Dears,
I plan for my honeymoon trip to start in Lugano. Without arriving and departing date; I have 4 complete days in Lugano. Do you have any 4 days plan? What about the weather in end of June, what temperatures? Is there any walking street in Lugano? What is the best way of transportation inside Lugano and from Lugano to the closes it Italian city (COMO and Milan) and than to travel from Lugano to Zurich? I heart I can have one ticket for train and bus in cheap price? Thanks a lot Ali |

The Lugano area is the warmest part of Switzerland. It's hot enough to sunbathe. There are busses and a train station which can get you from place to place. There are various swiss passes, but if you are going to Italy you may be better off looking at the europe multicountry passes.

Thanks for replaying about the weather and transportation
Sorry for bothering, but I need to know also about: 1) Suggested hotels (cheap + air condition + lake view) 2) Most important places to visit Regards Ali

Hi Abassam,
Be aware that Lugano can be quite noisy depending on the hotel. It is on the lake, but there is a busy main road (4 lanes of traffic) which cuts right in front of many hotels and along the waterfront. There is a pedestrianised area with shops and restaurants. The best way to travel from Lugano to COMO / Milan is going to be the Train. Not sure what pass you would need though. If you want somewhere beautiful and relaxing to start your honeymoon, Lugano is not the place. However, if you go around the coast (about 45 minutes journey from Lugano) you get to Locarno and a short bus journey away is Ascona which is a beautiful italianate lake resort with many restaurants on the lake front. It is very quiet and sheltered and quite beautiful. From Lugano to Zurich, the best way to travel is the train again. There is not a huge contrast between the two cities however. If you really want to see the beauty of Switzerland, go to Interlaken and spend a couple of days there. Zurich is only a short train ride from Interlaken and one day in Zurich (IMHO) is enough! Iain
