Hi people. Anyone been into the Congo (DRC) this year, esp. the east? Looking to find out the security situation around Goma, volcano situation, borders open and safe from Uganda into Congo and out into Rwanda and if gorrilla tracking is up and running at the moment. Few seem to know in Uganda. Any help, as always, so much appreciated. Thanks. Chris.

hi, you can try checking out this:
allafrica.com - just look up that country when you get to the site. back in june while in bwindi- we were hearing of gorilla tracking in there. but that was from 1 person who lives in the bwindi area. my driver and the other drivers there-all said -now way! not safe. too unsure of things in there.
if the ugandans dont know-then i would stay away. altough it is tempting-it was for me hearing about gorilla tracking there.
good luck
d

Thanks mate.
Please say thank you to Frank, your wife and mam for looking after me so well. It definitely helped me to gain a real insight into Congolese life and everyone was so incredibly friendly. Of course I will forward the photos asap. Take good care my friend and stay in touch.
