Newcastle upon Tyne Travel from London to Newcastle for football game
Posted: Thu February 9, 2006 11:52 PM UTC
I'm planning to travel from London to Newcastle for a football game in May. I am not very sure what are the best methods still:-

1. Should I travel to Newcastle via train or flight? Is the airport near the cities? Or train is more convenient?
2. How many hours by train?
3. Should I stay in Newcastle overnight?
4. What times does the match end?
5. Should I travel back to London by train? Any train in the evenng / night?

Thanks a lot.

Its possibly cheaper to fly most of the London supporters club do!!!!
from newcastle its either a 20min metro for around £2 or a taxi for £15
after a good meal in toon, then back in london for 10.00pm

leave healthrow 11.40 arrive 12.50 30 minutes taxi or metro to city centre
in first bar for 1.30(shearers bar)
leave on 20.10 flight to healthrow for 21.25

You might be able to do it more cheaply than British Air if flying from Stansted is convenient enough for you. Easyjet flies to Newcastle, and flights can be had for as little as £13.99 each way (plus taxes, though).

Although lots of people fly up and back the same day, why not stop over and see something of Newcastle? It's a very nice with lots of new things to see and enjoy.
