Hi, I'm a self confessed shopaholic ! Is the shopping in annecy any good ? (Especially womens clothes, shoes and bags !) Do they have the usual high street shops or the french equivalent ? Hope some one can help ?

As far as I know, there are a good many shops in Annecy and you should find what you are looking for though Annecy is a small town. If that was not the case, I strongly advise you to go to Lyon where there will be much more and of top quality.

I think the area around the center of town (close to the Mairie and where the boats come in) near the oldest part has some great shops. Lyon is a bigger town but it is much further away. Annecy does have a very nice shopping area in the old city. Brand names as well as more independent stores.

shop till ya drop ... and rest in the lovely coffe or chocolate shops in town.
A lot of people from Geneva even come down to do their shopping. There are lots of shoe and cloths shops
