Theft of statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I at Deutsches Eck

After visiting Koblenz, I am interested in the theft of the damaged statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I at Deutsches Eck at the end of World War II.
1. Does anyone know of any books or articles in English about this event? 2. Does anyone know of any books or articles in German about his event?
I would be grateful for any information available.
