I normally don't bring local currency with me to the Caribbean but instead, get it from the ATM on arrival. I read that the ATMs are normally out of service in Bequia...are they reliable in St. Vincent at the airport or in Kingstown?

there are only like total of 4 ATMs there that i know of when i left (Nov 05), 3 of those in kingstown and one near Choppin hill, along the road near the police station. just be prepared that when u go and make business transactions with their banks, it could take a loooong time as banks there are always busy and since it's a small island, tellers almost know every one n chats with them while doing business..really friendly but not convenient if ur rushing and standing on the line.

Are you saying that there isn't an ATM at the airport? If not, do you know where the closest one is and if it is realiable?

im not sure about ATMs in the airport, i think there is one though i didnt notice it. the airport is really small, but i didnt notice it. the one im sure of is in their town, kingstown.

Last time I was there, not only was there no ATM at the airport but the bureau de change in the airport was closed (in the day time) so I had no means of paying the taxi to the hotel. I am going back this summer and I was actually searching to see if the situation had changed since then (2002) when I found this thread.

I left last november 05...not really sure about ATM there,sure one is in town. hope u have a good time on ur return! i had the healthiest lifestyle when i was there, met a lot of good people too!..but was sure glad to see familiar starbucks again:))

Having recently returned from St Vincent I can report that there is now an ATM in the airport.
