My mother would like to get a copy of her birth certificate( She immigrated to Canada in early 60's) but we've been spinning around in circles trying to find out how to go about this. Does anyone know the phone # /address/website to get a birth certificate in Portugal? She was born in Sau Miguel (Santa Barbera if that helps)

Yep, my mom said she went to the embassy in Toronto and they "couldn't help her" which totally doesn't make sense to me at all, we want to skip them and go straight to the original source if possible.

You can get that a copy of birth certificate from internet.
