| Durban | Visiting Durban July/August 2006 Posted: Wed February 1, 2006 08:52 AM UTC
Hi
I have the opportunity to visit Durban this July-August with my husband for 10 - 14 days. Can you give me ideas of what are the best sorts of things to plan for this time of year. I know its the winter but will I still be able to have a "Beach Holiday" or is it a good time of year for visits to national parks etc. Also any general information on "must see attactions" would be good. Thank you for your help Linda Mann |

Normally (we have had strange weather lately) in July Durban is the best place to be in SA. It very seldom gets cold and a lot of inlanders have a nice beach holiday in Durban during this time. It seldom rains and the sun shines most of the time. I love Durban even though it has become very crowded lately. After the school holidays in July it should be OK. Schools start on 17 July again. The only negative thing is that Durban's beaches have never been as nice as the one's in the surounding areas. Go to Amanzimtoti or Umhlanga for better beach experiences. Litteraly 10-15 min from Durban.
Be careful around the beachfront at night time. Some unsavoury characters hanging around there after sunset. I have a few things to do on my Durban page if you want to have a look. It is also a nice time to visit the KNP as it is not so hot. Hope you enjoy whatever you chose to do.

Hello
Here's the official Durban website - thought you might find interesting and helpful www.durban.gov.za/eThekwini Winter is beautiful in Durban. It's sometimes warm enough to swim, since we have a warm current flowing past. Snorkling or scuba is best in winter because the ocean visability is best then. Also visit Ushaka(aquarium), Valley of 1000 hills for a wonderful view at breakfast (The pot and Kettle is a great restaurant) , The midlands meander is a great day drive.
