Hello,

How easy and how long does it take to get to Copan from Antigua or Guatemala city?

Is a day trip feasible?

Thanks.

There are plenty of travel agencies in Antigua Guatemala and Guatemala City that can arrange you the transportation to Copan Honduras. A day trip is feasible but it would be too tight as one way trip takes about 4 to 5 hours. You can find some useful information at http://www.honduras.com/hondurastips/english/copan.htm.

It is true that Copan is small, especially compared to Tikal or El Mirador, but you could see it in a full day.

I have only gone there twice via bus and passenger truck, so I think that going by shuttle has to be best.

Captn -

You won't be able to make it as a day trip unless you are turning right around and getting on the same bus you came in on.

The Hedman Alas bus line makes the trip. You can find prices and itenerary at their web site at http://www.hedmanalas.com/index.htm . A bit less comfortambe but definitely cheaper is the Monarcas shuttle service. They are on the web at http://www.angelfire.com/mt/monarcastravel/ and http://www.mayabus.com/index.html

The ruins at Copán are great and merit at least a day and the town another.

Have fun!
