Posted: Wed May 21, 2003 07:58 AM UTC
Sister Virginia (aka. vigi) will be in Tokyo shortly. She and I are just talking of getting together. Our plan so far is to meet at Japan Beer Festival in Ebisu(http://www.beertaster.org/index-e.htm)/(http://www.beertaster.org/gjbf-top.html).
If you are interested in, please post here or drop me a line.
Cheers

Guys,
Vigi, Welcome to the Kuni of Rising Sun.
I have10 days off from 06 June onwards, think of going somewhere in States or Middle East. If not, I might join the gathering. Satoshi-san, could you please keep me update if there is any schedule change? Appreciate.

Saturday, all my troubles seem so far away
Posted: Thu May 22, 2003 11:05 PM UTC
Saturday 31st is my day! We could go to EBISU and Noemi can join us for the second round. I can get my early bus to Tsukuba on Sunday morning.

Virginia do not pay attention to David's Japanese. He should say:
Vigi-chan Nipponretto e yohkosoh!!!

Well... actually... **blinking my eyes** What are the meaning of both?
1. IRASHAIMASE!!!
2. chan Nipponretto e yohkosoh!!!

I have learn basic Japanese for 3 months (many years ago) but all I can speak are simple words like:
ogenki desu ka?
arigato gozaimasu
baka / aho
suki
........

these are too difficult for me! **blinking my eyes**

baka or aho is not simple Japanese, Vigi-chan.
It is highly complex, as matter of fact. I wonder who was your teacher.

Both phrases means welcome.
Irashaimase carries a more commercial
meaning: Welcome. May I help you? What are oyu looking for? How much did you bring? Do you use Amex?

While yohkosoh is a relaxed way to say welcome to XXX (it could be two
X). Welcome home would be Okaerinasai. But if you are visiting us the yohkosoh is the standard greeting.

So... Can we use your Amex? (-;
