I'm planning to visit Iloilo in February. Since I'm a solo female traveler in her 60's (an Ilonga), I have concerns of travelling, mainly safety. I'm aware of basic safety rules but overall, is Iloilo a safe city? Thanks.

hi,
i live in QC and have been there twice and many years ago. but to date I seldom hear anything untoward about that area. plus the fact that you're ilongga, i should say go forth and enjoy! am going there saturday and will tell ya by tuesday if am back in one piece hehehe!

Iloilo is safer compared to other provinces in the Philippines, I think. But I still wouldn't discount the danger. As long as you stay within the city, don't wander off to dark corners, and retire to your hotel by around 9pm, you shouldn't run into any form of trouble. If you have problems as a solo traveler, just ask around. People are quite nice.

Over the last 10 years I have been to Iloilo about 6 times and we are going again in April. I have had no problems. I will be traveling with mywife(Filopino) our 2 children aged 6 & 4 plus my brothers 13 year old. I think that says what I think. But of cause do the norm and stay in lighted areas get taxis
if after dark etc. Daryl

i just came from iloilo city to cover the Dinagyang Festival for a Magazine..
and yes... Iloilo is very very safe. i dont feel any uneasiness in bringing mg camera even to crowded places during the dinagyang.. :) Eric http://www.byahilo.com

Iloilo is a safe place. since you've mentioned you're ilonga, havent you been to iloilo? i could help you, im a female but im from bacolod. it's just a ferry ride from my city. when is your specifeic date to come to iloilo

Is it a safe city we . Just keep your common sense about you. Dont do things you would not do if you where even in your city. like going with strangers , pickpockets etc. If you refer to the troubles you seen in CNN trust me they are of no immediate concern as Iloilo is a great city to visit.
