G'day,
I have stayed there and it's a good camping/Cabin area.
When they say *Resort* they are using that term to include all areas of the Uluru Village.
You can walk from the Camping area where the cabins are to all other areas of the village. You can use all the other facilities in this Resort Village.
There are tours for the Sunrise and Sunset at the *Rock* also to the Olgas.
You can also do guided walks around the rock, or part way around. I recommend the one with the Aboriginal guide. You can then learn about the culture of the owners of this land.
You will be able to book these tours at the Uluru Village/Camping ground.
OR you could hire a car and do it yourself. This way you can go and come as you please, also you aren't sitting up with all the other hundreds of bus tours in the bus area for the sunset and sunrise.
If you hire a car you leave before sunrise and head to the rock, then do a guided walk. You can then go and visit the culture centre at the Aborginal Community. You could then head to the Kata Tjuta( Olgas) and do some of the walks there among the huge rocks.
Then head back for the sunset scene.
If you hired a car maybe you could do a trip to Kings Canyon. This is approx 300k's ,a good drive as the roads are sealed. Try to be there before lunch time as then you will have time to do one of the walks at the Canyon.
Have a great trip
It's a great part of Aus

HI!

You can try the following to do your own DIY tours:
http://www.uluruexpress.com.au/
They will fetch you from the resort to Uluru & Kata Tjuta itself and you can then take a hike of your own to explore the 2 places and then they will fetch you back to the campgrounds. If you are doing the afternoon hike, you could do the hike+sunset tour and they will bring you to see the sun set over Uluru as well.

HI! Anne:

It's 1 day to Chinese New Year....you'll have to pardon me from being a little less quick, mate. Lots of cleaning up to do for the holidays. Ha ha ha.

HI! "vpbebe": I have not done that tour so I have no 2 cents worth on that (I'm worthless now...HA HA HA!) But it should be a great experience - the outback can be hauntingly beautiful.

Going on a tour like that should be fun. I am leaning towards the tour.
They Should know something about the area and it will be a heap of fun.
I would email and ask if they are local drivers.( whatever tour you decide on I would do this) You wouldn't want to do a trip with a driver that has just landed the job after flying in from some other part of the world!!
You might have found this page
http://www.toddys.com.au/tours_detail.php?ID=2
They have a notice there that if you do a tour you get a free night at Toddys.
For an example the Outback Safari on 2nights three days is good, you see a good amount of the area. I imagine they are all the same.
Doing a tour like this is a good option as it is all done for you.

Are there still 6 of you at this stage of the holiday? If so, it would be heaps cheaper to hire a car (or you'd need two with 6 of you) at Uluru airport.
Less than AUD$50 per car per day. Maths = AUD$200 for two cars for two days plus entrance to Uluru (valid for 3 days - I think it was AUD$17 per person).
Organised tours within Uluru - approximately $50 per person per 'event'. Sunrise = AUD$300 for 4 hours. You'll be back at the resort by 9am - if you want to go anywhere else that day, it'll be another AUD$50 per person. Hiring car will provide freedom - don't forget the Olgas as well within the park.

All started when my mom served up tinned alphabetti spaghetti in tomato sauce. Precocious little git that I was wanted to know why there wasn't tinned figurini fettucini in basil pesto available so that I could do my maths homework at the same time. Response. My dad clipped me one (thus putting to rest the view of another forum about parentage :)). Moral? You have to work hard for the finer things in life - I'm still searching for that figurini fettucini in a tin. :)

Link being that of course they may serve the illusive Italian dish as bush tucker on the trip... :)

And tinned figurini fettucini in basil pesto sauce is likely to be better than the food they serve on Lygon ST - but then I would be mixing the postings... :)

Entree could be a tin of Kangaroo tail soup. Spag Bol made with tender pieces of Kangaroo and witchery grubs as a garnish as a main.
Sweets will be damper with lashings of honey.
