Hello,
Yes there are many mosquitos and black flies in the Yukon during the summer. Bring lots of repellant and you'll be fine. Roily

In the Canadian north we have mosquitos and black flies. These insects bite. As a rule the worst months are June and then July . August is better and September early October are best. We are planning a trip to Yukon/Alaska so I have talked to a friend that used to live in Yellowknife , NWT. He says : (1) waer long sleeves ; (2) use "muskol" ;
(3) no perfumes or smelly colognes; (4) weaar long socks and pull them up ; (4) wear dark coloured clothes , nothing white and bright coloured . You have to protect your ankles, wrists and neck. Mosquitoes are not that bad but the black flies bite can hurt . If you are sensitive to bug bites there are mesh shirts that you can but that suposedly keep the bugs away. You can also buy mosquito hats with a pull down mesh that will cover your neck.

Mozzies aren't bad in august. worst time is around mid july. many resorts, mine included now use mosquito control developed by marines in panama. not toxic and it really works. dentisto, aka Yukon Dave

Anytime you are in Canada or Alaska, largely unpopulated, largely wet, largely forested there are Mosquitors. However, if you stop in towns and at RV parks, most of them are not right in the forests - and have some wind, therefore mosquitos are not a problem. If you pull off the road and stay where you are surrounded by woods - you WILL HAVe mosquitos. Lots and lots of RVers travel the Al/Can yearly and do just fine.
