Die Mutter meiner Freundin arbeitet in Eppelborn (in der Nähe von Saarbrücken) und Wir wollen sie besuchen, aber wir wissen nicht, welche Flughäfen sind am günstigsten für das Dorf. Kann jemand mir erzahlen, alle die Flughäfen in der Nähe und etwa wie lange es dauert vom Flughafen zum Dorf mit dem Bus, Zug, etc. zu fahren? Vielen Dank!

If the village is near Saarbrücken, obviously the airport serving that city is the nearest. Quite by chance (!) old Cliffie has to hand a copy of the current Flughafen Saarbrücken Flugplan. The problem is that, unless you are on a holiday flight to places such as the Canary Islands and Turkey, there are very few destinations with direct flights from/to Saarbrücken. There are domestic routes to Berlin, Hamburg, Mannheim and Munich, and the only international route - apart from the holiday flights mentioned earlier - is to Luxembourg.

Ich würde vorschlagen, Ryan Air nach Hahn, Hahn-Express nach Ludwigshafen Bahnhof, dann mit dem Zug nach Saarbrücken,umsteigen nach Eppelborn.Leider ziemlich umständlich,aber Eppelborn ist nicht gerade der Nabel der Welt.(Dafür aber in einer sehr schönen Gegend).Vielleicht weiß sonst jemand eine bessere Verbindung.

Hahn ist wohl der am günstigsten gelegene flughafen,der saarbrückener flughafen ist was die verbindungen angeht ein witz; von hahn fährt ein shuttle-bus nach saarbrücken

I visit Eppelborn every year. My friends live on Zur Sandkaul, by the main drag through town.

I know very little German language.

There is a slow train which goes from the main train station in Saarbrucken to Eppelborn train station and back. It is quite slow. It takes like 45 minutes to go. I think that you catch it on track 11A, but I'm not sure; anyway it's way down toward the end of the platform. I took it August 2005, and I had three minutes before the train departed, and then I spied a short train on the end of the platform, and I had to run in clogs to catch it.

Flughafen? There's a Saarbrucken airport with a city bus into town. I have friends who live on the bus line. Not a lot of flights; I've yet to land there. It's easier to land at Frankfurt and take the slow Saarbrucken train directly from the Airport, or, you can land in Paris and take the fast train to Metz or Forbach and then a slow train into Saarbrucken. Also, there's Hahn Airport, with a regularly scheduled bus to Saarbrucken or Frankfurt or whereever.
