I wanted to know if it better to travel to Brighton with a 4 month old baby in a 7 seater or take a train.
the 7 seater gives us the option of starting and ending the trip the way we want to. However we would be contarined by the train times. This trip will just be a day trip. What is the distance between Brighton & Docklands area in London. How much time does it take to reach Brighton. Please suggest |

The train times are not constraining at all. As far as I remember there are trains from Victoria station every 15 min or so to Brighton. Look up at nationalrail.co.uk, I might be wrong. But as far as I can see it is only a price question, not a convenience one... Do whatever is cheaper.

From memory, it's only about 45 minutes on the train from Victoria to Brighton, but I could be wrong. The trains are comfortable- you wouldn't have a problem at all with a 4 month old. As long as you're not travelling at peak times, the trains are fairly quiet. Plus, it's a nice relaxing way of seeing the countryside and you don't have to worry about driving out of London!

From Docklands its way easier to go by train and way faster! Your nearest train connection is London Bridge mainline. Fast trains go every half an hour from platform 5, roughly at 25 mimutes and 55 minutes past the hour...
Its a quick comfortable journey...with only 3 stops, and Brighton Station is about a 5 minute walk from the highstreet...maybe 10 minutes to the sea. Another reason not to drive is the cost of parking in Brighton! Have fun! Blu

Thanks so much to all of you - guess the order of the day is TRAIN. I will try and get hold of some group tickets and see Brighton during the day and come back by night.
ONE MORE QUESTION - CAN YOU GUIDE ME ON PLACES OF INTEREST IN BRIGHTON??

Going from Brighton to London Victoria only takes 50 minutes (depending on the number of stops). For example, if they stop at 3 stops it only takes 50 minutes. It can take up to an 1 1/2 hour though once they have a lot of stops (for example 6). You can see the number of stops on the board at London Victoria, where they post the times trains leave and the destinations.
The Brighton seafront is a lot of fun in the spring and summer, and I absolutely love the North Laine and the Laines shopping areas. Often, I would just windowshop, but walking around the cobblestone streets in the Lanes was delightful. Shops are housed in ex fisherman cottages! The North Laine is a great place for funky fashions, and on Kensington Street, there is often an open air market selling everything from fashionable stockings to fruit! Have fun!

Hi
I think that the train would definitely be easier as it's only about 50 minutes from Victoria to Brighton (I think the trains usually leave at 6 and apx. 32 minutes past the hour). If you do decide to drive, the parking in the city centre is hideously expensive - it's probably best to follow park and ride signs if its a weekend, or to park on the edge of the city centre and get the bus in - the Hanover/Elm Grove area is central and well served by buses to the seafront and city, or just a 15 minute walk. Be aware though that if you do drive, and it's a sunny weekend, there can be long tailbacks on the way into Brighton. Enjoy your day, let me know if you want any tips on things to do with children
