I purchaed some tiles at ESPACO D'ARTE ORIZIA, Villa Velha in Sintra last May and have not received them. Everytime I call they give me a different excuse. Has anyone had the same experience or can think Of how I can get my tiles? THANKS.

have no ideal where sintra is. you might want to see if you can find a web site for that city or the country it is in at ( www.towd.com ) and ask if they have had other complants concerning this company.

Send a complaint to the official portuguee Consumer Institute.
The e-mail adress is ic@ic.pt
They should accept a complaint in english.

Meanwhile, any VTer living in Sintra who can pop up at the shop and help our friend out?

Did you receive your tiles? We also purchased a picture from Arte-Orizia in Sintra in December 2006 and today, January 20, we have not received the message. The website for that business is: http://arte-orizia.blogspot.com/. Their e-mail and phone number is shown on that site. I have written to them and hope to receive a positive response.

I suggest you don't give up. All of you should send a written complaint to the local police.
Local police adress is:

Rua João de Deus, 6 - Sintra
2710-579 Sintra

Copy the Tourist Office

Praça da República, nº 23
2710-616 SINTRA
Tel: 21 923 11 57/21 9241700
Fax: 21 923 87 87
e-mail: dtur@cm-sintra.pt

How about all of you send your complaints at the same time? They'd start thinking that something may is wrong with this seller.

Tell us the outcome!

I know my answer is hopelessly out of date, but regarding the tiles from Orizia I've had a similar experience. I bought some tiles at Espacio d'Arte Orizia in Sintra in November 2007 and paid for shipping to the US. When I returned home from my trip six weeks later the tiles had not arrived. I called several times and left messages with no reply. I looked up their email and sent a message, including all my order information and a scanned copy of my receipt (which I fortunately still had). Still no reply, but I did receive some tiles a few weeks later. The only problem was, they weren't the actual tiles I had picked out. They were similar, but newer and not quite the same. A few also had broken corners.

I don't think it was intentional negligence; I think Orizia just isn't organized when I comes to shipping. It's a one-woman shop and I imagine she forgot to ship my tiles, later sold them to someone else, and then painted some new ones when she realized her error. I can heartily recommend Espacio d'Arte Orizia--her tiles are beautiful. But let this be your warning: if you buy from her take your tiles along in person and arrange your own packing and shipping.
