Can we purchase train tickets on arrival at Geneva to Zermatt or must we book.Do we have to book other rail trips from Zermatt?

No train journeys in Switzerland, except some of the "Glacier Express" trips, require a reservation. So don't worry, you will be always able to buy a ticket 5 min before jumping on a train.

You can find everything at www.cff.ch. You can even book tickets on the internet on via your mobile phone! Note that you can also do your airline checkin (from the main stations - I'd think it was possible from Zermatt).
