San Marino San Marino Euro Coins

Is it possible to get circulated San Marino Euro coins in San Marino? If so, is this difficult or relitively easy? (And I don't mean buying an expensive set!)

Thanks, Lenore

Hi,
hope they are easier to get than the Vatican ones. I saw them on display at a bank in Austria around Christmas for over 200 Euros, and heard recently they now charge up to four times as much because they are running out of them!

If you go there, I imagine you should get them reasonably priced at the bigger ("state") banks, otherwise it will be the same as Vatican.

Good luck!
P.

PS - If you really can get them easy - please let me know, or buy a 2nd set! :-)

Hi Pete! Are you collecting Euro coins too? I was in Luxembourg recently and everyone had signs on their registers that said "we do not trade for Luxembourg Euro coins".
Seems like all the Germans I know are into collecting them. I always have to get 20 sets wherever I go (when I went to Finland, I hurt my back carrying back all the coins!).
From what I have read and heard, it seems like a real hassle to get Euro coins from Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City (most of all).

Yeah Lenore, I started collecting them too somewhere last year! Wish I had started at the beginning of the year because these smaller countries really seem difficult to get. happy I got Luxemburg, but the Finnish 1 and 2 cts are hard to get (you still have some of them left?)
It's also a "fun" aspect of travelling!

For the Finnish 1 and 2 cts; the Black Market in Beverwijk, Netherlands. They're a few euros each, but at least you can find them if you really want them.

No - but I know someone who does. The grandmother of the friend that I visited in Finland went to the bank and got several rolls of 1 cent and several rolls of 2 cents. If only I could convince her to part with a few...

I am collecting them for my father. What will really be crazy is when all the new EU member states get Euro coins...

Thanks for the offer! :-)
And I would be happy to answer any questions you have on Ireland - as I mentioned the Beara peninsula is a great place to go, not as touristic (and just as beautiful) as the Ring of Kerry and Dingle to the North!

The main problem with Vatican-coins is that there are not more than 2 or 3 souvenir-shops open to the public visitors, and NO banks, supermarkets etc.

And they still sell the old Vatican-Lire-coins for extra-high prices and a few euro-coins.
I thought to be clever, buying a postcard + 1 stamp and paying with a 5 €uro-note...
...and the change was coins from spain,germany,italy...
