RE: help with things to do Posted: Sun January 7, 2007 04:39 AM UTC
5 days will be great.
1. See if you can hike up Wildrose Peak. It's over 9,000 ft at the top. About 4-5 hr r/t. Great views of DV and solitude. Depending on how the winter's been, it could still have snow on top, so check with Visitor's Center first.
2. Hike some canyons in the Valley. I hiked Titus Canyon (north part of park) and Happy Canyon (west side near ghost town of Ballarat. Nice hike. Quiet. Small stream as you go up canyon with waterfall after a few miles.
3. Get on the Sand Dunes near Stovepipe Wells before Sunrise and watch the sunrise from out on the dunes. The dunes are best at sunrise and sunset as that's when the shadows are most interesting.
Are you camping or staying at one of the lodges?
