| Córdoba | February Trip: Cordoba, Marbella, Sotogrande, or Cadiz??? Posted: Mon January 16, 2006 06:40 PM UTC
Hello all,
I am trying to decide between these 4 cities for a weekend getaway trip next month. It will be 2-3 nights and it's for our anniversary/Valentine's day. We chose the cities due to their airport proximity/airfare as well as their each having a nice NH hotel (we have enough guest points to stay at NH hotels for free). The hotels are as follows: Cordoba: Nh Amistad Marbella: NH Alanda Sotogrande: NH Sotogrande Cadiz: NH Almenara We know it will not be beach weather though being able to stroll the streets without 3 layers would be great. We like good dining, wine tastings, sight-seeing, shopping, local culture/shows (horses, dancing, etc). Romantic setting would be nice :-) I'd LOVE to hear which you'd choose and why. Thanks so much for helping us plan a great getaway! Jessica P.S. forgive this re-posting but I just now realized that I didn't post it correctly the first time. |

¡hola!
I would choose Cordoba with any doubt: it's a very nice city with lots of things to do and see. Don't miss the Moschee. Wonderful! For me the best season to see Cordoba is spring with all the orange trees in blossom and the smell of these blossoms in all the streets. And how about the food? Mmmm! Delicious! I have visited this city twice and I like it a lot. I suppose that weather will be very nice in February, above all sunny and warm. I am sure that you can find a place where you can see flamenco dance. All the NH hotels are very comfortable and high quality. The second option for me is Cadiz. Sotogrande is only if you want to go to the beach. Marbella is a small village: no interest. Here in Spain, Marbella is very well-known because is the summer place for the famous people. Everything is very expensive there. Anyway enjoy your journey to Spain

I thoroughly endorse Mercu's recommendation, Jess: Cordoba is one of my favourite small cities, with its narrow Moorish streets and spectacular mosque (with its inappropriate Cathedral inserted in the middle).

Thanks to you both! This really seems to confirm what I've been thinking and what I've been reading. Now I'm feeling pretty confident about and excited for the trip!
