We have a layover giving us about 6 hours in Tahiti. Any suggestions how best to spend them. We will have already spent an evening in Papeete.

I would recommend taking a look at the Tahiti "Things to Do" in the travel guide.
My wife and I only spent one day in Papeete and Tahiti, but we did plenty. I would recommend a morning tour of the island with one of the 4x4 explorer companies.
