do you like snowboarding or skiing?if so, u can take the little train up to Male and head to Marilleva. From Marilleva u can ski/snowboard to Andalo, Madonna di Campiglio (I love it there!)

or are u more interested in visiting a town? I really like Bolzano/Bozen, it's pretty close to Trento and the Austrian border.

I agree with giampiero! To go to Milan it tooks 4/5 hours of train and 40 euros, more or less! If you like skying and you are a student DON'T go to Madonna di Campiglio, it is very beautiful (it is true but also very expansive...it is the most expensive skying station of all the alps! I think that for you the best place to go for skying is Paganella, it is a mountain near Andalo e Molveno, which are quite good skying stations. There are many buses from trento to get there. And then also Monte Bondone, is a small skying station but quite good for us (students).
If you don't mind skying, there is the beautiful garda lake to visit...have a look on internet at the sites of Malcesine, Riva del Garda, Limone sul Garda...there are beautiful landscapes. Also Monte Balso is quite good for a walk ride.
Then, as giampiero said, Verona is one of the most intresting cities of nordern italy, I think. Just one hour of train and 16 euros a/r. And then Venice is quite near trento, just 2,5 hours of train and 10 euros a/r. Have a look at www.trenitalia.com
And then Bolzano is also quite good to visit.
For the night life trento is not such a enjoying city, but all aroud there are some nice pubs and discos: i don't know which kind of night entertainement you like, if you want I know very well the zone, ask me what you want.
