Mount Everest EVEREST MAY/JUNE
Posted: Wed January 11, 2006 06:04 PM UTC
We are on a tight schedule and were thinking of a 2week trek? is this possible?

Our aim is to get close enough to everest for some good views, but we arent too worried about getting really close or really high.

The plan was to organise the trek in Kathmandu or Lukla and start in Namche.

We are reasonably experienced trekkers, so is it possible to do this on our own? or should we use a guide?

we have loads of questions, but these are the most important right now.

Your help is really appreciated

hi there

I'm planning on a trip to Nepal this May too, and have considered doing the Everest Base Camp trek with Intrepid for £355 + costs
http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/NXE

I have booked my flights to India from the UK with Gulf Air for £219 return, I think this is valid until the end of this month. the return must be within 30 days of the first flight

flights from Delhi to Kathmandu are about £70 each way with Jet Airways

Intrepid are doing the Base Camp trek at various times and the one I'm considering starts on the 12th of May and finishes on the 26th, so about 2 weeks

The other tour/trek I have considered is the "Nepal Adventure" which is a lot more varied and starts on the same date

fyi:
flights internal to India are dirt cheap with www.airdeccan.com
(eg: a 2 hour flight from Delhi to Mumbai for just £24!)
flights from Delhi to Kathmandu cost about £70 each way with Jet Airways

let me know if you have any tips or decide to book (I've only booked the flight to Mumbai thus far, arrive on 4/5, depart 4/6)

cheers
josh
